Active Font for Campaign Creativity
I was deep into finalizing the visuals for a seasonal product launch, and I needed a font that would make our message pop without feeling too formal. That’s when I stumbled upon Active, a friendly handwritten font with just the right amount of energy to match our campaign’s vibe.
Active is part of the Script Amp category, designed as a premium font that feels like it was scribbled by hand but still maintains a clean, professional look. It carries a warm and approachable personality, making it perfect for creative projects where authenticity matters. The visual style has a soft flow, subtle curves, and an inviting mood that makes every word feel personal and genuine.
I first used Active in our Instagram post series promoting the new collection. It worked beautifully on the headline of our teaser post: “Get Ready for Something New.” The font’s casual feel helped soften the excitement of the announcement while keeping it clear and easy to read, even at smaller sizes.
For the YouTube thumbnail set, I paired Active with a clean sans serif font for the call-to-action. The contrast between the two styles created a strong visual hierarchy, guiding the viewer’s eye from the main title to the action button. This combination made the thumbnails more engaging, especially in fast-scrolling feeds where first impressions matter most.
Active also shined in our Pinterest campaign. We used it for decorative titles on pins promoting limited-time offers. The font’s unique character added a touch of personality to each pin, helping them stand out in a sea of similar content. It wasn’t just about looking good—it was about making our brand more recognizable and memorable.
When designing email banners, I noticed how Active handled small previews and mobile screens. Even at reduced sizes, the font retained its legibility and charm. This was crucial because many users would be viewing the emails on their phones, and we wanted the message to be clear and impactful no matter the device.
One of my favorite uses of Active was in a webinar promotion. The headline “Join Us for an Exclusive Session” had a natural, conversational tone that matched the event’s purpose. Pairing Active with a modern sans serif font gave the design a balanced look—playful yet professional.
Active works best for short headlines, callouts, and decorative titles. Its expressive style is ideal for logo-style text or campaign labels where you want to convey emotion and personality. However, it’s important to keep it as display text rather than using it for long paragraphs or body copy, where readability could suffer.
When working with Active, I always consider the background. On dark backgrounds, it stands out beautifully, but on light ones, I ensure there’s enough contrast to maintain clarity. For digital ads and website banners, I tested different weights and file formats to find the version that looked best across all platforms.
Font pairing is another key consideration. Active pairs well with clean sans serif fonts for a modern balance. I often use it with Helvetica Neue for a sleek, professional look. For editorial designs, combining it with a serif font can add depth and sophistication to the layout.
Before using Active in any client campaigns, I always check the included styles, alternates, ligatures, and multilingual support. Having access to these features ensures flexibility in design and helps avoid any unexpected issues when scaling the project. Also, verifying the commercial font licensing is essential when incorporating it into ads, templates, merchandise, or digital products.
In one instance, I used Active for a branded content series on Instagram Reels. Each video featured a different quote overlaid with the font, creating a consistent visual identity across the posts. The audience responded positively, with higher engagement rates compared to previous campaigns that used more standard fonts.
Another practical tip I’ve learned is to test Active in various contexts before finalizing the design. Whether it’s for a landing page header, a social media graphic, or a promotional banner, seeing how it looks in real-world scenarios helps ensure it aligns with the campaign’s goals and brand voice.
Active isn’t just a font—it’s a tool that enhances storytelling through typography. When used thoughtfully, it can elevate the message, improve readability, and create a stronger connection with the audience. As a marketer, knowing which font to choose for each project makes all the difference in how your campaign is received and remembered.
